Audubon Sanctuary
The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf is an award winning education and certification program that helps golf courses protect our environment and preserve the natural heritage of the game of golf. By helping people enhance the valuable natural areas and wildlife habitats that golf courses provide, improve efficiency, and minimize potentially harmful impacts of golf course operations, the program serves an important environmental role worldwide. Audubon International has developed Standard Environmental Management Practices that are generally applicable to all golf courses. These standards form the basis for ACSP for Golf certification guidelines.

Since 2009, The Westin Kierland Golf Club has been proud to hold the ACSP for Golf certification. We are committed to environmental stewardship through best management practices and natural resource conservation. While providing pristine playing conditions, the golf course also serves as a large habitat for a wide variety of wildlife. Through focused efforts, we have steadily reduced our footprint on the environment by decreasing our consumption of water, fertilizer, and fuel. We pride ourselves on setting an example for the industry and believe that Audubon International is an organization that best highlights such efforts.
The pictures below show just a small sampling of the wildlife population at Kierland Golf Club. Pictured are: Vermilion Flycatcher and baby Great-Horned Owls.
In 2022, our resident Great-Horned Owls birthed 2 baby Great-Horned Owls. We’re happy to report they are healthy and happily patrolling the skies over Kierland Golf Club.
